Group B - a sport for real men or just lunatics driving cars?

Short description of this amazing sport:

Group B is a set of regulations in rallying. It's main point was to include cars which were capable of reaching speeds comparable with Formula 1. Doesn't sound too bad, right? It's worth mentioning that it mostly took place on dirt roads, in forests and contained many tight corners. Group B lasted only for four years (1982-1986), because of how dangerous it turned out to be, but still managed to revolutionise rallying we know today.
Cars were mostly rear wheel drive and had to have a road legal variant which was available to customers. However, this is when first 4 wheel drive cars were being widely introduced, which later revolutionised the motorsport we know now. Today, almost all sport cars are 4WD, while back in the day it was reserved only for trucks and no one thought about putting it in a car, except for Audi, which gave us a magnificent Quattro on which all other cars in Grup B were based.
However, nothing amazing lasts long. The cars were capable of reaching 100km/h in just 3 seconds! It meant that they were hard to control, had a tendency to oversteer and hard to control overall. It was just a matter of time until a fatal accident happens. On May the 2nd of 1986 Henri Toivonen, along with his copilot, Sergio Cresto, had an accident in which they both lost their lives. Their car fell out of a corner, hit a tree and immediately burst into flames. This horrible accident resulted in Group B being cancelled because of how dangerous it was. It is still considered one of the most exciting type of motorsport. It is a real pity we don't get to enjoy it now, but is it really worth risking our lives for entertainment of other people?

Some of the cars I consider the good looking

Here is a list of some of the cars which I think are special, becuase of how good they look

1. Alfa Romeo Brera

This is a car that I think is near perfect. Especially when it's in light blue and hiding a 3.2l V6 engine under the bonnet. However, some people can't stand the way this car looks, but for me, the design is ideal. It looks agressive and sporty from the outside and is cosy and spacious on the inside. What's more, the car is relatively cheap compared to the cars I'll introduce to the list later.

The best color I have ever seen on a car

2. Mercedes-Benz C63 Coupe

Sportiness, agresivness and comfort of Mercedes presented in it's purest form. The car doesn't really stand out compared to other road cars, but it is still eye-catching (probably because of how loud it is). This thing is a dream of many petrolheads and a lot of people will appreciate seeing this beast in public.

3. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

And here's another Alfa, coming from the country of good looking cars. This is Alfa's first try at sedans after a long break. The car just looks magnificient and no words can describe how much this thing appeals to me. I would take it any day over a Ferrari 458 or a Lamborghini Aventador, just beacuse this is a sporty and esthetically pleasing Italian car which you can daily drive, or even take it for a road trip if you wish. Definitely one of my dream cars.

Most interesting cars of 2017

The year 2017 is slowly coming to an end, with Christmas just around the corner. It is time to slowly start talking about what this year brought to the automotive world. Here is a quick glimpse at what happened this year!

1. Lamborghini Centenario

We are going to kick the list of with a supercar. A 2,000,000$ supercar. Centenario is a car based on an Aventador. The car was made to celebrate the 100th birthday of the company's founder: Ferruccio Lamborghini. The car is powered by a 6.5l v12 engine, producing 770 horsepower, taking the car from 0 to a 100km\h in just 2.8 seconds! There only 40 of these on the road.

2. Tesla Model 3

Now we are going to take a look at something unusual and controversial. The full electric Tesla Model 3, a car manufactured by Elon Musk's car company Tesla, who is also the founder of PayPal and owner of the SpaceX company. It is their 3rd shot at building an electric vehicle. The two previous models are Model S and X (giving us a nice line-up of models S, 3, X). The company is now targetting a wider audience by bulding a car significantly cheaper than in the past. The Model 3's price starts at just 35,000$ and claims an average of about 350km on one charge. The car turned to be such a succes, that people were lining up prior to the car's release to pay a deposit of 1000$ to the dealer to just have a chance on getting one.

3. Audi A8

The latest Audi A8 is the most hi-tech car to be ever produced. It is aimed to steal sales from the market-leading Mercedes S-Class and the amaznig BMW 7 Series. The biggest innovations are what Audi claims to be class-leading Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities. This means that the A8 can drive itself at speeds of up to 37mph if the road has a central barrier to separate it from oncoming traffic. The car also sets the design standard for future Audis, notably in its large front grille. The car offers petrol and diesel engines, along with a hybrid system.

Remember that these are just a few cars that I've choosen for this line-up. There are many other cars worth checking out!
